Finding the perfect base makeup or foundation can take years of trial and error so when you stumble across a favourite that you re-purchase, it's definitely worth blogging about!
For me personally, my go-to brand for foundation has always been Chanel. I've tried using cheaper drugstore foundations and products from other high-end brands but I always come back to Chanel time and time again.
I've got to be honest, the Chanel way isn't the cheapest option, but I suppose for something that you apply to your face everyday it's got to be worth it.
I've been trying out a new moisturiser by MAC too so here's my low down on these products:
(To put things into perspective in case you're interested in purchasing these products my skin is oily around the t-zone but can still be dry in patches, I'd say I have combination skin.)
Perfection Lumiere Velvet in Beige 20 (Top shade shown in the above swatch)
Out of the two Chanel foundations, Perfection Lumiere Velvet is the one I started using first. In terms of coverage it's heavier than the Vitalumiere Aqua and gives a more matte finish to the skin which I think is better for the Winter months and also nights out as it's long-lasting and doesn't slide off the skin throughout the day. As I'm pretty pale, this shade is a little dark for me but I often mix it with the Vitalumiere Aqua shade for day or apply it on it's own for night. A huge benefit of using this foundation is that it does even the skin out, particularly if you have big pores so I really liked that about it. I even used the Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer beforehand so that would help to smooth out and minimise my pores even more.
MAC Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15
This is the first time I've used any MAC skincare and I'm sad to say I think I made the wrong choice! When choosing a new moisturiser I was ensured that this product would work 'for all skin types' (*my mistake*) but at the moment I'm finding that this product isn't suitable for my combination skin and isn't working hard enough in terms of reducing dryness. Maybe my skin is just going through a rough patch (pardon the pun) as I know this is a favourite for other people but I simply can't see why at the minute. Another thing that makes me dislike this product is that it takes quite a few pumps of moisturiser to make any difference so a little doesn't really go a long way - sorry MAC!
Vitalumiere Aqua in Beige 10 (Bottom shade shown in the above swatch)
This foundation is my latest beauty purchase and I love it. This foundation contains lots of water so it's super light and hydrating, making it perfect for fresh and dewy summer skin. The coverage is very light so if you're not bothered about wearing a heavy base, this foundation is perfect for you! This time I went for the lightest shade (Beige 10) and it matches my skin tone perfectly. As it is a pale shade, I build up some colour using bronzer and blush for a healthy summer glow. Sadly, it's £33 a bottle but you only need a small pea-sized amount to cover the whole face. I usually touch up under my eyes with concealer and apart from that my complexion is good to go!
I'd be interested to hear what you think about these products?
