A few weeks ago I was invited to the Mary & Milly store opening in Preston. I've lived in Preston all my life and considering the city is pretty small in comparison to nearby shopping destinations such as Manchester and Liverpool, I still think Preston has plenty to offer on the fashion front, with a mix of high street stores and unique independent shops such as Mary & Milly.
If you're looking for something that little bit different that you won't find in the likes of Topshop or H&M, Mary & Milly certainly deserves a visit. The boutique, owned by Poppy Waters, has a lovely story behind it as it was set up in memory of her grandmothers Mary and Milly who had a great sense of style and always inspired her.
When you enter the shop you can really see that it has a personal touch in the sense that plenty of effort has gone into making it as welcoming as possible for the customer which I think is so special. Each item is chosen for its quality and vintage-esque style and to make everything even more appealing the prices are really affordable which means it's easy to update your wardrobe with key seasonal pieces.
From tweed monochrome co-ords (which is next on my wishlist!) to statement print blouses, necklaces and dresses, the store offers pieces for both day and night. Some of the pieces are also one-off exclusives so there's even less of a chance that you'll see numerous people sporting the same dress in one night. There's also a gorgeous table of treats filled with jewellery as well as a range of handbags and scarves so you can either treat yourself or pick up a perfect gift whilst you shop!
Deciding on what I wanted to buy on the night was pretty tough as there was so many must-haves on show but I did end up purchasing a gorgeous printed midi skirt a few days later which will be making an appearance on the blog very soon!
Here are my snaps from the opening night:
You can find Mary & Milly on Asos Marketplace here or you can visit the boutique at 21 Guildhall Street in Preston, Lancashire.
I hope you've enjoyed this post as it's something a little different, if you have any comments or questions about M&M feel free to leave them in the section below.
