When Chanel launch a new foundation it's very difficult to resist. Although I'm a fan of my Nars Sheer Glow foundation and Benefit's Hello Flawless, I like to have one foundation in my beauty stash that is pure luxury and Chanel always ticks that box.
When the Perfection Lumiére Velvet foundation says 'velvet' it really does mean it. The first time I tried the foundation was whilst having a Chanel makeover in Manchester before a night out. A makeover is free in Selfridges if you are planning to spend more than £25 which is also redeemable off any products you buy. I would definitely recommend this service as it allows you to try lots of products before you buy!
As soon as the foundation was applied to my skin, it seemed to blend in incredibly well. When you try this foundation it appears to have a runny consistency but when dry it forms a smooth, matte finish which is ideal if you have oily skin like I do.
It's hard for me to say how this foundation would fare on dry skin but I would definitely give it a try if you are looking for a light foundation that blends seamlessly on to the skin. The coverage is good and a little goes a long way so I was pleased to find that this foundation is slightly cheaper than the original Perfection Lumière, whilst it also has SPF15 making it perfect for warmer climates too.
I was so pleased with my final makeover look which consisted of a flawless base, grey smokey eyes and a nude lip - something which is a first for me. As I have a pale complexion I didn't think I would be able to carry off a nude shade but I loved Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in 89 Satisfaction so much, I purchased that too!
It's smooth to apply and has a lovely glossy but non-sticky finish. It's a great shade if you're looking for a lipstick that's low maintenance and doesn't need re-applying all the time.
Here's my finished makeover look:
