After much consideration, I finally purchased the Hourglass Ambient lighting powder in Dim light, priced at £38. After all the blogger hype around this product, I knew I had to give it a go so I popped to the Liberty's beauty hall in London and ended up making a very quick trip to the till!
The powder is definitely a premium product and has a very smooth and light reflecting finish. I thought this powder would be applied prior to foundation but as it happens, you do all your base makeup first including foundation, bronzer/blusher and then simply dust the powder lightly over areas you want to highlight such as the cheeks, nose and forehead.
I was really surprised by this product as I've tried other highlighting powders in the past that haven't worked on my skin at all. I really like the matte finish of this powder as there's no shimmer/sparkle, plus a small amount covers the whole face so it's proved to be really long-lasting.
I now use this everyday and I'm not sure my makeup bag could cope without it! It's especially useful for a night out as it help's makeup to stay in place and helps to reduce shine where my skin is more oily. The packaging is also super luxurious and has a great mirror on the inside of the compact.
I would have loved to buy the matching brush too but I think that will have to wait until next time!

What I'm wearing:
Necklace - Accessorize
Shirt, Skirt & Faux Fur stole - Zara
Ring & Watch - Primark, DKNY
Bag - TKMaxx
Boots - Topshop Mighty Boots
If you follow my blog regularly you will have spotted that I've been away for a while and that's because Sarah's Style Statement has had a total design revamp - I hope you all love it as much as I do! As a blogger, it's easy to get bored of your layout and design so I figured the new year would be a good time to have a refresh! One of my new years resolutions is to post more frequently so you can expect more regular beauty reviews, outfit posts and some exciting monthly giveaways.
As a promise to myself, I plan to share more outfit posts such as the one above from this weekend. Both the striped shirt and faux leather skirt are recent Zara sale purchases and I think two items cost £30 in total, absolute bargain! Shirts are one of my biggest weaknesses as I'm always drawn to a new print or colour and this is my first shirt of the striped variety. I usually live in jeans outside of work so it was nice to wear my faux leather skirt as a more feminine option. I really like the zip pocket detail and the fact the back of the skirt is a stretchy bodycon fabric which is more practical and comfortable than a full leather skirt.
My bag is a TKMaxx find and my faux fur stole is another Zara purchase that I have worn to death this winter. And finally, I'm in love with my accessorize necklace which was a Christmas present from my Mum. She knows me too well when it comes to my statement necklace obsession...

What I'm wearing:
Dress - Miss Selfridge
Necklace - Accessorize
Boots - Zara
Lipstick - Revlon 'Cherries in the Snow'
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
First of all, Well Done to Kate A for winning my Topshop lipstick giveaway. There's another giveaway coming soon!
I hope you had a good time over the festive period, but seriously, how tough is it to get back into work? Gone are the days of eating pick n' mix for breakfast!
So here's what I wore on New Year's Eve this year. Usually I am adorned in sequins as they are my favourite but this year I decided to tone it down slightly as I ended up going to a family house party.
I know my outfit is VERY black but really I have no excuses as it is my favourite 'going out' colour. However, I did make an effort to wear a jewelled necklace and a bright cherry lipstick which is one of my favourite Revlon shades.
My lace skater dress is from Miss Selfridge and has been worn on various occasions already so I think it's going to be one of my new wardrobe staples for 2014. It looks fitted in my photo's (probably due to all the chocolate I've been munching) but it is a skater skirt from the waist down and a really lovely fit.
As for the necklace, my friend Rosie wore it and I wouldn't help but be a total copycat! Can't wait to layer it over tees and shirt collars, I don't think I'll ever get bored of huge necklaces.
What do you think of today's look?
