My Suncare Essentials

From left:
Hawaiian Tropic Protective Sun Lotion SPF 15 Medium Protection
Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 20 Medium Protection
Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Spray Oil SPF 8 Low Protection
Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 30 High Protection
Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturising Lotion

When my boyfriend asked me where I wanted to go on holiday this Summer the first thing I said to him was 'I don't care where we go as long as it's hot!' So, off we went in search of destinations with scorching temperatures without a care in the world for our pale, fair skin that we are both blessed with! (I say this in a very sarcastic manner as I think most people envy those who have perfect olive skin that tan's like a dream!)

In the end we decided to go to Majorca for a week and the weather was perfect, finally some guaranteed sunshine! Of course, we didn't want to head off sunbathing without protecting our milky white bodies, so these suncare picks proved to be very essential holiday buys.

As we were only going away for a week we limited ourselves to these 5 suncare products, which were more than substantial for the week- we even came back with some left over. I tried to ensure we had varying factors with us (whilst my boyfriend had packed two pairs of swimming shorts and forgotten almost everything else he needed) and I found the chosen factors to be just right.

So here's why I would choose to take these 5 suncare products on holiday over any others:

Hawaiian Tropic-SPF 15

When applying this product I found the main advantage to be that the creamy formula literally dissolves into the skin and dries instantly. I really hate it when sun cream leaves white streaky marks and takes forever to be rubbed into the skin, however, this formula seemed to glide on, it was quick to apply and most importantly, protected my skin for the whole day. Of course, I did top it up occasionally to be safe but I think I could have got away with the one application. I love the fruity smell of this product too.

Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist-SPF 20 and 30

I'm going to cover both of the Nivea sprays here as apart from the difference in the sun factor they are essentially the same product. These sprays were an absolute suncare saviour whilst I was away and they are a great holiday buy if you are looking for ease of application. Initially, I was a little worried that the mist might not reach all areas of the skin, leaving some patches unprotected. However, the mist worked very effectively on even the most hard to reach areas and ensured that our skin was protected from top to toe.

Top tip: This product is also a great buy if you hate the feeling of sand sticking to your body as it dries super fast!

Hawaiian Tropic Dry Spray Oil- SPF 8

Most people usually tut and sigh when you say you use an oil on holiday, but I always think it's ok to use them as long as you don't use them throughout your holiday and from the moment you get there. Obviously, I can only use them in moderation or when my skin is already lightly tanned as I have fair skin that is likely to burn.

This oil was great for applying on particular areas that take forever to tan such as my legs and back- I don't know why these parts of my body take that bit longer? The spray bottle and smoothing formula also makes for a fuss-free application.

Hawaiian Tropic After sun Moisturising Lotion

One question: what would we do without after sun on holiday? I think applying a soothing aloe vera based lotion such as this Hawaiian Tropics one is the perfect way to end a long day at the beach and this one really works to put the lost moisture back into the skin. I also found this after sun to be good value for money as I still had some left despite both my boyfriend and I using it repeatedly throughout the week. Definitely a must-have!

OOTD: Neon Dungarees

What I'm wearing:
Neon Dungaree Playsuit- Coco Boo
Embellished collar shirt- River Island (past season)
Mini shopper bag- Zara
Sunglasses- H&M
Ambush Boots- Topshop (past season)

My first question is; has everyone had a fun Bank Holiday weekend? This weekend has been one of the few weekends that I have actually stayed in London, but I think it was definitely one of the best weekends to stay! I made the most of the beautiful weather and went to Brick Lane and Shoreditch with my lovely friend Sophie, who kindly stepped up to being my street style photographer for the day and helped take the pics for this outfit post (big thank you for that!) Hope you like the crazy coloured wall as a background because we loved it!

Due to the glorious weather I thought it was perfect timing to wear my gorgeous new neon printed playsuit which is from the fabulous Coco Boo. I first discovered the Boo in my home town which is Preston (Yes, I'm a northern girl) and I can always rely on the lovely girls in there to find me something fabulous and totally unique to wear.

This neon playsuit ticks two trends in one, both neon and the dungaree style, so that's what made me fall in love with it! It has straps that come over the shoulder and a pretty low back so I teamed it with a buttoned up shirt, tights and ankle boots. Although I am planning to team it with a crop top and heels this weekend; two outfits in one!

I hope you enjoyed my outfit post and if you get the chance to head to Shoreditch/Brick Lane I would definitely step to it! Lots of cool vintage stalls, unusual designer brands, nice bars and amazing street food! I would definitely recommend the pineapple smoothies as you can tell by my huge grin!

Take a look at the Coco Boo website here, follow them on Twitter or take a look at the Facebook for all their new arrivals!

Happy Shopping!

The Great Gatsby

Last night I went to see The Great Gatsby and it is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. I won't go into too much detail for those of you that haven't seen it yet as it's the most annoying thing ever when people explain the whole plot. However, I am going to mention that the costumes and accessories are worth a cinema trip alone.

I've always been a huge fan of 1920's fashion. Women of that era had such grace and elegance and I often wish that I could have pranced around in overly large and fluffy fur stoles, pearls and heavily sequinned frocks. Instead I proceeded to dance, well wiggle, in my cinema seat and imagine how good it would have been to attend one of Gatsby's parties. (If you watch the film you will soon see what I mean!)

Carey Mulligan looked particularly amazing throughout the film and really suited the flapper girl look. My favourite part of the outfits had to be the beautiful hair accessories and headbands as they looked super pretty placed over sleek and sophisticated hairstyles. I'm thinking there will be a flurry of girls heading to their nearest salon to go for the Gatsby crop too...

Although I am never going to afford a headband as intricate as Carey's, I've spotted this Asos number which is a great nod to the trend and era:

Whilst watching the film I also had serious dress envy as many of the actresses swished around in the most intricately beaded and sequinned dresses. I've had my eye on both of these Miss Selfridge numbers which I think fit the Gatsby theme perfectly- lots of detail, plenty of sequins and of course, some feathers!

The Gatsby look is not complete without a subtle smokey eye and this new Clarins Splendours eyeshadow and eyeliner palette will accentuate the eyes and add a touch of Gatsby glamour to your beauty look.

REVIEW: Dove Purely Pampering Range & GIVEAWAY

Dove kindly sent me their Purely Pampering range to review so over the past few weeks it's safe to say that I've been smothering myself in gorgeous body butters and lotions, not forgetting the fact I've been applying lots of lovely hand cream to my winter weathered hands to get my skin in tip top condition for the summer months- that's if the sun is ever going to shine?

The Dove products are an absolute dream to use and I love the fact that this range uses simple and effective ingredients such as shea butter, almond cream and coconut milk, which are always winning formulas when you are looking for nourished, smooth skin.

In this collection there's the following products from left:

Purely Pampering Hand Cream- buy here

I always like to carry a hand cream in my bag and this little tube of goodness is just the right size and doesn't weigh my bag down which is always a bonus. A pea sized amount will cover both hands and the formula dries super quick, leaving a lightly scented shea butter and vanilla fragrance behind, yum!

Purely Pampering nourishing lotion- Coconut milk and jasmine petals, Almond Cream and Hibiscus, Shea butter and warm vanilla- buy here

As I've just returned from a weeks holiday, these nourishing lotions have proved to be vital skin saviours and I think they are good value at £3.99 for 250ml. There's three different scents to choose from but I guarantee you will end up buying them all! Top tip: I also find these lotions to be particularly good for sensitive skin.

Purely Pampering body cream- Shea butter and warm vanilla- buy here

There's something really satisfying about taking your time when applying a really moisturising body butter, although I admit that my time-poor schedule means that this has become more of a pampering treat and not a daily ritual, sigh!

But, when I do have the time I reach for this tub of buttery, rich lotion and used it on patches of skin that are particularly dry and in need of some attention. The shea butter formula really does work wonders and I usually leave it on overnight to reveal beautifully soft skin the following day.

Have you tried any of the Purely Pampering range or any other Dove products?

If you haven't, I'm launching a GIVEAWAY where you will have the chance to win all 3 of the Purely Pampering nourishing lotions which will be perfect for getting your skin summer ready!

To win, all you have to do is:

Good Luck!

Say hello to some fresh new nail colours with these stylish nail polish pairings from the new Pierre Hardy for Nars collection.

Inspired by Hardy's Summer 2013 shoe collection, the nail polishes come in complimentary duo-sets which are great for creating different nail art looks. Sanctuary Spa Favourites

When looking for any kind of bath time or pamper time treat, whether it's a divine body scrub for the summer or a refreshing shower cream, I always look to Sanctuary to find it.

Personally, it's the scent of Sanctuary products that I really love as their range has a pretty and natural scent that isn't too overpowering. But I also think they offer quality products at a reasonable price, which doesn't make me feel as guilty when I treat myself from time to time! So here's my verdict...

Sanctuary Spa 12 Hour Moisturising Shower Cream, £6.50- Here

What are the beneficial  ingredients?

Shea butter, Sunflower oil and Vitamin E

In the past I've always stuck to using a shower gel but after trying this cleansing shower cream I'm not sure I can ever go back! Using a cream feels much more luxurious and despite being a little sceptical about the 12 hour claim at first, it does leave my skin feeling smooth and moisturised all day long. I can't say I've been using it every single day but I tend to reach for this product when my skin is feeling a little dry and in need of some attention.

Once I've used the shower cream I feel like I don't have to moisturise too so it's a great product if you're always short on pampering time. A little amount of this product also goes a long way and despite the fact that it contains nourishing oils, it doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy and dries really quick. I'd say it's been money very well spent!

Sanctuary Spa 4 Day Moisture Oil Scrub, £9.99-Here

What are the beneficial ingredients?

Organic olive oil, Gold of pleasure oil (which is the richest source of Omega 3 and 6) and Shea Butter

The 4 day Moisture Oil scrub is another favourite of mine as it is a gentle scrub that doesn't feel uncomfortable on the skin. Unlike the really gritty body scrubs that you may find elsewhere, this formula is more of a softening sugar scrub which still manages to remove any impurities, without feeling too harsh on the skin. I've especially found this scrub to be useful recently as my tan from my holiday is sadly beginning to fade and unfortunately I'm peeling-nightmare! Top tip: I would definitely recommend this if you have sensitive skin as it won't cause any redness or irritation.

Both of these products have been absolute skin saviours so I'm sure I will stock up when they are running low!

Have you tried any Sanctuary Spa products?

Would love to hear what you think!

NEW LAUNCH: Benefit Color Collection and GIVEAWAY!

I've been so super excited to blog about the new Benefit Color collection which includes colour-popping, smooth lip glosses, a huge selection of longwear powder eyeshadows and creaseless cream eyeshadows which are perfect for creating fresh, new summer looks! There's soon to be a selection of lipsticks too but they aren't available until around September so I'll post more about them nearer the time.

To celebrate the arrival of this new Benefit Collection I've also decided to giveaway a selection of the new products so you can try them out and see how wonderful they are for yourself! (See below for how to enter the giveaway)

So here's the new Ultra Plush lip gloss collection which includes (from left):

- Kiss You (clear Fuscia)
- Poutrageous (bright Pink Coral)
- Lollibop (hot pink)
- A-lister (bubblegum pink)
- Icebreaker (clear)
- Fauxmance (soft berry)

The lip glosses are £14.50 each and can be found here

I've been trialling out the Fauxmance (soft berry) shade this week and they are super smooth, glossy without feeling sticky and they are long lasting; everything I love in a lip gloss! Plus, the packaging is super pretty which usually manages to win me over!

Here are the new Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows which you can find here:

- Always a Bridesmaid (Pearly Lavender)
- Holy Smokes! (smouldering charcoal)
- Bikini-tini (Oyster Pink)
- Skinny Jeans (Pretty pewter)
- R.S.V.P (Sparkling Champagne)

- Blue My Mind (arctic blue)
- Bronze have more fun (antique bronze)
- Birthday Suit (brushed chrome)
- My two cents (polished copper)
-No pressure! (rich fawn)

I've only used two shades so far which are 'Birthday Suit' and 'My Two Cents'-partly because I was deciding on which shades to include in the giveaway! I was a little dubious about the 'creasless' claim as I find that most creme eyeshadows crease during a full days wear, but these new Benefit beauties seem to be crease free, hooray!

Benefit have also introduced a whole range of new Longwear powder eyeshadows and there's  a wonderful 12 shades to choose from.

They are £15.50 each here

What I love about these eyeshadows is that there's a selection of matte, satin and shimmery finishes to suit all skin tones. Although I must confess I haven't fully tried them (apart from swatching them on my hand) but they seem to have a good colour pay off and plenty of versatile colours for creating many different looks.

My favourite has to be the soft lilac called 'Pause for Applause' so I will be experimenting with that one to begin with.

So here's how you can enter my Benefit Giveaway to win these lovely Benefit products...

- Must follow my blog via Google Friend Connect

- The Giveaway is International

(Giveaway: Creaseless cream eyeshadows in Blue My Mind and Skinny Jeans, Longwear Powder Eyeshadows in Pinky Swear and Quick Look Busy, Ultra Plush lip gloss in Kiss You and A-lister)

Good Luck!
