Benefit Beauty Review #2: Hello Flawless Foundation and the POREfessional

Welcome back to my Benefit review series, there's another one to go so keep a look out for more tomorrow! Today I want to introduce the Benefit POREfessional and the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation in Ivory

This is the second time I have purchased the Benefit POREfessional as it's a great primer that helps to make your foundation look seamless. I've only tried it underneath the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation but I'm sure it works well under other foundations too.

What I love about it is it's light and airy texture. It's a smooth, lightly tinted balm that helps to even out the surface of the skin when applied to t-zone areas such as the chin, forehead and cheeks. I also find that it stops the skin from looking oily and keeps the foundation in place throughout the day. You only need a small amount to minimise your pores so even though it's a small tube it should last a while!

You can buy the Benefit POREfessional here.

Usually I keep to a similar routine with my foundation and use the Chanel Perfection Lumiere. Although I know it's a perfect colour match and coverage for me, it's also nice to have a change from time to time. The Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation is the first ever Benefit base I have tried and it's been really good so far.

If you're looking for a medium coverage foundation then this probably isn't for you as I find that it's a very lightweight foundation, hence the name 'oxygen wow'. Although a lighter coverage isn't something I'm used to, I have enjoyed using this when my skin needs a bit of a break or if I'm going for more of an off duty look. I also feel like I don't need to wear as much base makeup when it's heading towards summer time so I'm sure I'll get lots more use out of this in the coming months. I've already used half the bottle!

The colour of my foundation is Ivory and although it adds some colour to my pale skin, I think I may go for a paler shade next time as I'm really fussy about foundation and like it to be a perfect match, even if it's the palest shade there is! However, I still think the Ivory shade will be good for days when I'm wearing bronzer or a little fake tan.

You can buy the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation here. Benefit are also offering 10% off the range if you enter 'wow' at the check out!

Benefit Beauty Review #1: Fine One One

Thought I would start a series of Benefit beauty reviews as I have been using 5 of their hero products in my everyday beauty regime, so keep a look out as the reviews will be coming up in the next few days!

Starting with my favourite product; the Benefit Fine One One. It's a clever creme blush and highlighter in one that can be applied to both the lips and cheeks. As you can see from the above, it consists of a soft coral colour, watermelon pink and a pink champagne highlighter.

One of the best features of this product is that it's completely fuss-free to use. If you want the effect of both a creme blush and a highlighter all you need to do is glide the stick from the apples of your cheeks to your temples, and blend with your fingers. It's more effective if you keep the highlighter at the top end to highlight your cheekbones where the sunlight will hit!

As the texture of the creme blush is smooth and creamy you only need to apply a small amount which means this colour popping stick will last through spring summer and beyond.

Have you tried the Benefit Fine One One?

BLOG GIVEAWAY: Orly Nail Polish in Oh Cabana Boy

Today I decided to take on the neon trend but in nail form. This is the first time I have ever used an Orly nail polish and I am seriously impressed. So impressed that I decided to purchase another and do my first ever blog GIVEAWAY! (See below for details on how to enter!)

The Oh Cabana Boy shade which I am currently coveting is an amazing neon pink and the colour looked so vibrant right from the first coat.Bright pink isn't usually my first choice when it comes to nail colours but I have to say, a touch of vibrant neon makes a nice, interesting change.

I know it's probably not the right way to do it, but I didn't apply a base coat and top coat today and the polish still seemed to go on smoothly and didn't even look faded with just the one coat. But I did go on to apply another to make sure it stays chip-free for longer! The colour does look much brighter on the nails than it does in the bottle as it has a pretty blue undertone which gives the nails a beautiful sheen.

Overall, I am super pleased with the colour and I'm sure I will be attached to this neon pink shade throughout the summer. Imagine how good this would look with a tan! After using this shade I will be sure to invest in more Orly nail polishes in the future.

To enter the Sarahs Style Statement GIVEAWAY to win the Orly Nail Polish in Oh Cabana Boy all you need to do is:

-Follow Sarahs Style Statement on Google Friend Connect (see sidebar and click join this site!)

REVIEW: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pretty Powerful Pink

The Bobbi Brown pot rouge is one of those beauty products that is a complete breath of fresh air. Its dewy texture and feel, great colour range and handy mirrored compact make it the perfect product for updating your Spring beauty regime.

I first encountered the pot rouge when I decided to buy one for a friends birthday present and I secretly think that the only reason I bought it was because really, I wanted one all to myself! The secret is out- terrible I know!

The first shade that I decided to go for was the 'fresh melon' which is a natural peachy shade as I wanted a creme blush with a dewy finish that was going to highlight my cheekbones as well as adding a little colour to my lack lustre complexion. That's not to say that my skin always looks weary-I just tend to burn the candle at both ends as we all do! I would show a picture of my fresh melon pot rouge but I've used it so much that it's in a rather sorry state which I suppose is a sign of an essential beauty buy!

After loving my trusty Fresh Melon shade I was incredibly excited to test out the new pot rouge in Pretty Powerful Pink. This shade has been introduced as part of a new global charitable initiative by Bobbi Brown which aims to help women and girls raise funds to support programs that will provide them with additional education, job skills and work experience to further their career development and overall success.

As the name suggests, the colour is a powerful candy pink but when applied it is easy to blend and can be worn in a very subtle way. I have to be little more careful when applying this shade as its a much deeper pink but I love the instant flush of colour it gives to my cheeks! The great thing about the pot rouge is that it's multi purpose and very easy to blend so you can also use it as a lip balm or stain if your lips are lacking some spring summer attention, or you can use it to add a pop of colour to your cheeks!

(excuse the quality of the photos-I was blogging whilst on the train!)

You can find the Bobbi Brown Limited Edition pot rouge in Pretty Powerful Pink here and there's also many other shades available here.

M is for Monochrome

This season I am definitely looking to covet the monochrome trend. Call me boring but I've always loved wearing black as it's super flattering and simple to wear. I'm also quite aware that MANY fashion followers will be channeling this trend, but I love it too much to care about the fact I might see someone wearing the entire same outfit as me. The more mono the merrier in my eyes!

Whether it's a LBD, smart tailored black jacket or a pair of black platform court shoes, I always feel stylish in this colour no matter what. So you can imagine my excitement when a bit of white started to get thrown  into the mix?

If you're not used to contrasting such bold colours, why not try to add a touch of black and white to your outfit? In particular, I'm loving the striped shift dress below. Although the stripes do make quite a fashion statement, it's loosely fitted shape will look just as amazing with tights, flats and a leather jacket for day as it would with a blazer, heels and red lipstick for night.

Why not take a look at my best buys and give monochrome a go?
